“Enjoy learning

Learning to learn”

Your happiness,

our first objective

We have an exclusive physical environment for students of these ages where they can safely develop their motor skills and autonomy.

At this stage, affective and social development of children is essential, as well as their need to receive the affection and security to progress in all aspects.

We work on gestural and oral communication systems, as well as knowledge of their own body and the basic rules of relating to the outside world. We carry out different graphomotor activities that bring children closer to the world of reading and writing, creative thinking, logical-mathematical learning, psychomotor, land and water development, personal autonomy, etc.

From the age of 2, we start teaching English for 60% of the learning day, which is the basis for the immersion process that takes place during Primary school. And, from the age of 3, our students begin to acquire knowledge in Mandarin Chinese as a second foreign language.

Early stimulation and multiple intelligences

Humanitas Bilingual School Tres Cantos develops its own Project for students from the age of 1, with the aim of activating their motor, intellectual, critical, emotional and social potential, facilitating their full academic and personal development in the future.

We prioritise play, manipulation and experience, in a safe and caring environment, where the child is stimulated, learns and has fun in the process.

Mandarin Chinese and English-Spanish Bilingualism

During one hour each day, in Nursery 1 we develop activities close to our students’ reality through stories and songs, promoting familiarisation with a second language and laying the phonetic and phonological foundations for the teaching-learning process of the English language.

With the goal of promoting a natural environment that achieves a bilingual climate in the school, English language immersion in Nursery 2 is real. 2-year-old students spend 60% of their day in English.

From the age of 3, they begin to acquire knowledge in Mandarin Chinese as a second foreign language, developing their skills in the three languages (Spanish, English and Mandarin Chinese).

In line with our goals, the internationalisation of our teachers stands out, as they communicate with their students at all times in their mother tongues.

All projects and knowledge areas are developed in parallel, with the same objectives and topics, in Spanish, English and Chinese.

Globalised project

The usual and distinctive way of working in Nursery (1 and 2 years old) at Humanitas is Project Based Learning (P.B.L.) in a globalised context.

We start from the interests of our students to develop the entire curriculum of Early Education, with a perspective based on their curiosity, their desire to learn, to discover. Above all, we try to foster their motivation towards learning and working in different knowledge areas in an interdisciplinary and cross-cutting approach.

Artistic project

Through the knowledge of great artists, we consider art and creativity as fundamental pillars of our students’ education, due to their influence on the emotional, cognitive and physical development of children.

Based on this, during the Nursery and Early Education stage we make them participants and responsible for their learning, stimulating their potential and, at the same time, fostering new abilities.

Emotional intelligence

Throughout their schooling, we develop and strengthen emotional education among our students as a continuous process, helping them to build positive emotions and interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts appropriately.

Guardians are the reference people for students in the centre. Therefore, guardians develop and teach this subject together with the Counselling Department, although the entire educational community is involved.

Our method is global and cross-cutting. It is a continuous and practical process; and it is actively and dynamically developed so that from a very early age students develop their own vision of the world and of others.

Psychomotor development

The child’s motor development contributes to the maturing and personal autonomy process, enabling the child to express their ideas and emotions, face their fears and limitations and overcome them.

With this subject, taught within school hours, students learn about their body, they learn coordination and balance, while also achieving motor skills and agility.

Since the school facilities have an indoor swimming pool, our students develop aquatic psychomotor skills from the age of 3 within school hours, as part of the HBS Project.

iKids

Our students work routinely and regularly with technological tools that motivate them and speed up their learning. And, in this specific subject, they are taught to do so.

In addition, within this area, the programming and robotics project developed by the school together with “Lego Education” from 3 years old to Secondary stage deserves special attention. It is included in the HBS own offer, as a cross-cutting approach in the STEAM area.

“Once upon a time... mathematics"

As a complement to the teaching-learning process, the mathematics area in Nursery and Early Education works on all contents, concepts, skills and problem-solving in the logical-mathematical area from a hands-on and experimental perspective, using children’s stories as a reference engine.

“More than letters”

Created as part of the HBS Project itself, this programme is the result of our teachers’ determination to make the path to reading and writing in Early Education as simple, natural and respectful as possible with the evolution of each child, ensuring that the acquisition of phonological awareness is real and thus laying the necessary foundations for learning to read and write.

With reading and listening as a cornerstone throughout the entire stage, we have a wide selection of titles in English and Spanish, adapted to all ages, helping us to generate the pleasure of reading or listening to the narration of a story in our students.

In each classroom, all students have their own Library Corner, and with the HBS Book Club we give 5-year olds the opportunity to switch between reading different texts in English and Spanish each week, with books adapted to their levels, so they can start reading in these two languages.
